Grants Available

There are many, many grants available to sport and recreation clubs. When planning the year ahead, include some research into the grants you could apply for and when they are available. This knowledge could give your club a distinct advantage in gaining extra funds to support your volunteers. Plan well ahead where possible.

Grants Officer

Consider appointing somebody in your club whose role it is to source and write grant applications. This important and valuable task is ideal for the ‘virtual volunteer’ because the person can fulfil this role without always being at the club.

Finding Grants

Many of the grants available can be found though these organisations and sites. Many of the same grants are mentioned on most of these sites. Browsing through them will give you an idea of just how many grants are available to clubs.

National and state-based grants

  • The Australian Sports Commission's grants and scholarships page can help clubs address volunteer costs, and direct access to state funding opportunities in sport and recreation.
  • Our Community's Funding Centre provides access to comprehensive grants and fundraising lists and advice. Some features of this site require a payment and login.
  • The Sports Community site provides a search facility for state based sport grants.
  • Banks, car manufacturers, supermarkets and telecommunications companies often have community grants available.
